The most popular things to do in Calgary

A modern, cosmopolitan city with plenty of skyscrapers and a lively art scene, there is a lot to do in the capital of Alberta. With easy access to Banff National Park, it's often seen as the gateway to Alberta's Great Outdoors, but it's also a great place to get a feel for Western Canada's heritage.

Escape Ops

Whether you're looking to celebrate a birthday or a date night or want to get out and enjoy some quality time with friends and family, Escape Ops in Calgary, AB is a perfect choice. They have several themed rooms for you to choose from and offer a fun and exciting way to bond with your friends, family, and coworkers.

In an escape room, 2-6 people work together to find clues, solve puzzles, decipher ciphers, and figure out riddles to find the key to escape. These games are great for all ages and are the perfect way to spend an hour or two. The Escape Hour is located in a historic building with four escape rooms, including Cabaret Voltaire, Max Baker VS the Game, and Tesla's Study. They are open every Friday and Saturday evening and are a fun activity for the whole family.

Esxoss Manway is another fun escape room in Calgary with various themes, including Tokyo Rush, Ancient Egypt, and Buccaneer Bay. They also have a unique 2-player room, Dynamic Duo. Grape Escape is a fun event put on by Co-op Wine and Spirits. It's held every six months and features rows of tables set up for beer, wine, and cider producers to display their products. The event is a great way to meet new people, have fun, and learn about different drink types.

The New Central Library

With an LRT running through the guts of this building, a cafe on the mezzanine, and a design that fuels imagination, the new Calgary public library is a place for everyone. The architectural design, by the Norwegian-American firm Snohetta and local office Dialog, is a bold expression of how thoughtful architecture can make a good place for communities to connect. The crystalline facade is a dazzling collage of interlocking hexagonal patterns that are scattered across the curved surface of the building, allowing every side of the structure to hold equal importance and look as though it could serve as the library's front. This unique appearance results from site constraints; the new central library is built over a light rail transit line that runs through the city's heart.

A play of wood-slat planes rises towards a large skylight in the central atrium, forming the primary vertical circulation. Stairs are embedded within the atrium, affording changing views as one ascends. In addition to being a main public space, the library also offers rooms for programming and events, including an edgy performance hall and a large children's area that cascades down through the gently terraced floors. It's not hard to imagine how this facility could become an iconic Calgary institution.

The Military Museums

Located in the heart of Calgary, AB The Military Museums is a multi-faceted attraction that tells the story of Canada's military history. It features four regimental museums, three branch-specific museums, an art gallery, and The Military Museums Library and Archives. The four regimental museums are housed in the central portion of the building. Still, a recent addition of galleries representing the Royal Canadian Navy and the Royal Canadian Air Force provides a more extensive focus on Canada's naval and air force history. Those museums benefit from the experience and knowledge of a dedicated group of curators and custodians uniquely qualified to tell their stories.

One of the most impressive things about this museum is the level of research and detail that they put into their exhibits, making it feel like you're experiencing something. They also have a great selection of weapons and aircraft to show off, so it's a fun place for families with kids to visit. There is also a great variety of historical artifacts from World War II, Korea, and Afghanistan. There's even a Cold War exhibit that highlights the role of the RCAF, with three fighter jets on display.

A vibrant education program is another highlight of the museum, and Lorna Gutsche, Manager of Education and Interpretive Programing, organizes themed tours for children throughout the year. This is an outstanding resource for young people in the area, and The Military Museums has received several prestigious awards for its outreach programs.

Gasoline Alley Museum

Located in Heritage Park Historical Village, the Gasoline Alley Museum is a must-see attraction for visitors looking at one of the world's largest collections of vintage vehicles. This fantastic museum showcases thousands of artifacts, many of which date back to the early years of automobile production.

The museum traces the history of automobiles from the turn of the century to the 1950s and highlights their role in Western Canadian culture. It interprets cars as status symbols, art, and catalysts of social change. Exhibits include a collection of old-time gas pumps and service station memorabilia, as well as stories about Alberta's most notorious whiskey runner, the first cars in Canada, dirty thirties automobiles, and more! The museum also features an interactive Family Gallery with games and activities for children to enjoy.

A new year means a new exhibit at Gasoline Alley Museum. This year, they're kicking off Winter CARnival, an all-new event with family-friendly activities like milk jug curling, snowball tossing, and The Winter Road Trip Game!

Spruce Meadows

Located on the Southern city limits of Calgary, Spruce Meadows is home to world-class equestrian sports and competitions. The 120-hectare property is known for hosting many top-tier horse jumping tournaments throughout the year, featuring two indoor arenas, seven stables, six grassed outdoor rings, and its own television production facility. Spruce Meadows in Calgary, AB is the home of several international show jumping competitions throughout the year, including the prestigious National Continental', 'Pan American,' 'North American' and 'Masters' (the world's richest show jumping tournament). In addition to the competitive horse jumping events, there are many other activities for the entire family to enjoy at this exciting venue.

One of the best things to do at Spruce Meadows in the summer is to take your kids out for fun on the grounds. There are plenty of green spaces to run around, playgrounds, and picnic areas to eat lunch. In the winter, Spruce Meadows is decked out with lights and Christmas decorations making it a beautiful place to visit.

In the fall, many indoor horse jumping competitions occur at Spruce Meadows. There are also plenty of indoor activities that the whole family can participate in. In addition to these activities, the facility offers many shopping opportunities.

Hiring a cleaning service in Calgary, AB can be a great way to clean your home without doing all the work yourself. This allows you to spend time on things you care about while letting a professional handle the dirty work. The best cleaning services are flexible and can accommodate various needs, including small tasks or full-service deep cleaning to eliminate germs built up over time.
